Playing with friends can make Tarkov a lot more fun, so here’s what you need to know about doing so.
If you are completely new to Escape from Tarkov, then there is probably a lot for you to learn already. You may have heard of the system of bitcoin Tarkov uses to help you gain currency, or what a lucky scav junkbox Is and how it works. There’s also a list of Tarkov items that you will want to learn about as well. So needless to say, there is plenty to research when it comes to playing a game in Tarkov.
That being said, one of the most important aspects of any multiplayer shooter is how to play with your friends. That said, before you can play with your peers, there’s a few things you need to know.
Adding your Friends
We’re going to need to figure out how we can add our friends in Escape from Tarkov. Firstly, you can click on the Messenger tab that you will find on the bottom bar when you’re on the main menu screen. This will take you through to a new menu, and once there you will find a friends button in the top right corner. Click on it to get the friends menu up, and you can add your friends from there, as well as check out on pending friend requests that you might have. If you want to find friends, then use the search bar to locate their accounts and send invites to them.
Joining a Game
We have added our friends, so we can now move onto joining a game. You and your friends will all need to start the game, then choose your PMC. Next, make sure you all choose the same map as each other and put in the same time phase as well. This is important as you won’t be able to join a game together if you aren’t in the same time phase and map. Make sure that you are also going in at the same entrance point on the map as well. Choose the next option and go through it to get to the “Prepare for Escape” choice.
On the left side of the screen should be your character, then on the right, you will see a list of names. If you have managed to get this far in the right manner, then the list of names that you see should be those of your friends. Don’t worry if they don’t appear right away, as it may take you some time before you can see them all appear. When the names eventually appear, you can then right-click on their name and choose the option that says “Invite to Group”. You can only add a maximum of five to your squad, so keep that in mind when you are adding your friends to your group.
Starting the Game
So, you should have you and your friends in your group by now and be ready to go. So now it will be up to whoever in the group who sent the party invites to be the party leader. They will decide when it is time to ready up after the group is ready to go. You will then load into the game and you should spawn in or around the same area as each other.
This is where communication is key to your survival. In Escape from Tarkov, you cannot rely on the use of any friend identification to find where your friends are. The reason why this is so important is that friendly fire is something that is very real in Escape from Tarkov, so you could accidentally end up killing a teammate, or being killed by one in the crossfire. The main issue with this is that you may have teammates that are unreliable who can kill you as a teammate intentionally. Teammates are capable of taking the loot of their peers, so as you can imagine you do end up with team members that have motives that are not in your best interests. With that in mind, you need to make sure that you are only having teammates in your squad that you can trust, lest you end up on the wrong end of a team killing.
That’s everything that you need to know about playing with your friends in Escape from Tarkov. With this knowledge, you are more than prepared to assemble your squad and head into a server. Keep an eye out for those extraction points and any useful Tarkov items that you come across.
